Climate Reality - Causes, Effects, Solutions

“Our house is on fire” - these are the words of the teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The Amazon rainforest fire, typhoons Faxai and Hagibis in Japan, the flooding of Venice, and heatwaves in Europe - all of them represent our new climate reality. Climate change is no longer a vague threat from a distant future, it is happening right now, jeopardizing our social and economic systems.

At this event, we will review the scientific facts behind climate change, discuss the impacts of climate change on health, food systems, migration, and economy, and brainstorm on potential solutions that everyone can be the part of.

About  Climate Reality:

WE ARE CLIMATE REALITY

In 2006, Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore got the world talking about climate change with the Academy Award-winning film An Inconvenient Truth.

It was just the beginning of a climate revolution. Later that year, he founded what would become The Climate Reality Project to move the conversation forward and turn awareness into action all across the Earth.

Today, as Climate Reality, we’re a diverse group of passionate individuals who’ve come together to solve the greatest challenge of our time. We are activists, cultural leaders, organizers, scientists, and storytellers committed to building a sustainable future together.

Presenters:

Christian Schmitz – PDIE Founder, future enthusiast, traveller, story teller and planetary strategist, he founded the Purpose Driven Innovation Ecosystem this year for co-creating a better tomorrow by finding the most sustainable and impactful innovations and scale them to international markets. He comes from a broad range career working in large corporate environments such as Bayer, BASF and Henkel as well as launching several venture companies and investing in startups. His most recent venture is the Rice Exchange, a global, digital trading platform for rice.

Anastasia Milovidova – a sustainability consultant with 10 years of experience in academia, public and private sector. Anastasia supports Japanese corporations and financial institutions in their transition to low-carbon economy. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Global Environmental Studies.
